The Marlows

The Marlows married into the Wheatland family in 1922 when Elizabeth wed naval veteran William Albert Wheatland. She’d come from Middlesex but the Marlow family had deeper roots in Hampshire, where the surname crops up regularly.

    • Elizabeth’s first husband died during the First World War. She went on to marry my great-grandfather William Wheatland in 1922 and settled in Croydon, Surrey.
  • Reuben Thomas Marlow and Annie Aylingmy 2nd great-grandparents.
    • Born in Hampshire, Reuben worked as a labourer, married three times and died an old man in a house fire in Middlesex.
  • Reuben Thomas Marlow and Mary Frost Adamsmy 3rd great-grandparents.
    • Reuben raised his family in and around Portsmouth in Hampshire but moved to Middlesex. He served in the Royal Navy.
  • George Marlow and Jane Parsons – my 4th great-grandparents.
    • George was born in Dorset but settled in Hampshire, where he and Jane raised a family and he worked as an agricultural labourer.
