This is the home of my family history project on my mother’s side. Her mother was from a long line of Wheatlands, who mainly hailed from Sussex in England. We’ve spent several years working on our family tree and this is the result. Hopefully it will encourage distant cousins to add to the wealth of stories. The Wheatland surname probably refers to where the family came from, such as the wetlands, white lands or wheat lands depending on who you believe. It’s mostly found in southern England and the highest concentrations are in Sussex.
In terms of site structure, the top menu items link to generations of my family by surname. These pages feature an overview of those ancestors and their offspring. Blog posts – accessed elsewhere on this page – have been written where I have lengthier stories to tell about individuals in those family trees.
